Tea Bagging: The Unknown Dangers

Recent studies and surveys have shown that a large percentage of today's youths and elderly are unaware of the potential dangers of tea bagging. This form of tea-bagging is not to be confused with that of windsurfing or other watersports where an individual is "teabagged" when they fall beneath the water of a choppy wave.

After constant pressure from numerous international organisations such as the "Catholic Union for Nominal Tea-bagging" and "Confederation Of Concerned Kins", the "International Directive for Insignificant Offensive Transitory Statistics" was repealed to allow disclosure of the highly confidential statistics for public awareness. Over the past 10 years, awareness of the dangers of tea-bagging as well as the act of tea-bagging has diminished to a state where even the offenders themselves are unaware of what they are doing, much less the dire consequences which may ensue. In 1998, 87.85% of youths (14 - 21) and 93.73% of the elderly (50 - 80) were conscious of the proper approach to tea-bagging, in fact, many of the elderly accredited their health and longevity to daily administration of thorough tea-bagging. Sadly, this level of understanding regarding the therapeutic and holistic benefits of appropriate tea-bagging has not been adequately communicated to the irresponsible youths and cavalier elderly of today's modern society.

Much speculation of the reason behind this alarming trend points to the failing education system. Since it's removal from the primary and secondary syllabus all over the world by their country's respective Board of Studies, the sharp incline in accidents caused by negligent tea-bagging has resulted in an influx of patients to Emergency Rooms or A&Es. In turn, this has led to an insufficient supply of staff to attend to more critical admissions such as those suffering from Influenza which to this day still has no cure.

In light of this situation, a campaign to create awareness of the hazards of reckless tea-bagging has been spearheaded by the "Confederacy for Re-education to the Adolescent Public". Dr. Ben Dover, the chairperson of the organisation has provided a summary of the important details an enthusiastic tea-bagger should always remember.
  • The internationally approved method of tea-bagging - the Alaskan snow cone tea bagging which involves putting ice cream or ice on your ball bag before hand.
  • Tea-bagging should be done in a safe environment. Sharp objects such as needles, knives and mechanical pencils should be kept away from the tea bag.
  • Tea bags come in a variety of sizes. Some may sag more than other. This is natural, no reconstructive procedures are necessary.
  • Refrain from pulling too hard while tea-bagging.
  • Avoid squeezing the tea bag too hard once the desireable effects of tea-bagging have been obtained as the tea bag may rupture, spilling out it's contents.
  • The optimal temperature for tea-bagging is 36.8 °C (98.2 °F). Tea bagging is paramount in moist environments. Do not expose to extreme temperatures.
  • Cream may be added while tea-bagging to enhance taste and allow for smoother tea-bagging due to a reduction in friction.
  • Avoid sharing or putting unfamiliar tea bags into one's mouth as infectious diseases such as oral herpes may be transmitted.
Further information may be found at your local tea-bagging information centre or on the internet via numerous search engines such as Google.

End of Week 1

Hi ya'll!

It's been a relatively boring day. Chemistry session today. I thought lectures were starting at 1000 hrs today but it was actually 0930 hrs. Good thing I actually left early to reach uni by 0930 anyways. The lecturer went really fast as well. It was raining alot today. The first lecture slightly earlier at 1015 hrs. We had a short break before tutorial at 1030 hrs. One of my friends, Langer had to go to the Law Library to check his marks. My other friend, Klement and I sat at the Foyer. He bought a giant cookie from the vending machine and I nibbled on my peanut butter sandwich (specially requested peanut butter today). I decided to ditch Dr Kakali's tutorial and went to Anna Choy's one instead. According to my friends, she seemed relatively happy to see me. It seemed like I was the only one participating in her tutorial, exactly the same as Dr Kakali's. There were less hot guys though. Would that be a good thing?

The 3 of us were discussing some problem in the tutorial even after it had ended. That ate into our 30 mins break time before the next lecture. Anna Choy and I had a chat while the other 2 were still figuring out how to solve the question. My method was different from theirs so I couldn't really help them understand it. I told her that Organic Chemistry was my worst nemesis and she gave me some tips on rote learning the reactions. There are really alot of reaction to memorise. Before we knew it, it was almost time for the next lecture to start. Good thing it paused raining and the lecture theatre wasn't that far from the Australian School of Business (ASB). (ASB used to belong to the science faculty until they renovated it and the business school came in and stole our property! It's serious really nice inside! I should have taken a few pictures before it started. Will do that next week :D)

This lecture would be the last one for the day. It was soooo warm. The freaking air conditioners weren't working. Everyone was practically inhaling each other's "exhaust". Quite a relief that no one let one rip. That would have been disastrous! We were all restless from the heat and the sheer complication of the lecture. He was still going really fast. He was asking questions and no one was bothering to reply. I think no one could. We just gave him blank stares of death. He ended up answering his own questions. He is a nice guy though. Just that no one was in the mood to be accommodating. We ended early since we were pretty much brain dead. The lecture had lasted for 1 hr 15 mins. It had started to rain pretty heavily once we left the lecture theatre. I did talk to one of the hot guys in Dr Kakali's tutorial class. His name is Mark. He's really nice and quite hot, that is, until he says something. He's a total drama queen! Don't get me wrong, I don't despise him or anything, on the contrary, I find them exceedingly amusing with all their exaggerated movements and expressions. Always cracks me up. Well, I left without saying goodbye which was pretty rude of me but he was talking to his other group of friends.

Klement and I went to McDonald's McCafe. I had a standard chocolate frappé. It was really yum. Dad sent me an sms asking me if I was done for the day. I was quite surprised that he finished that early on Fridays. He came and picked me up and we went for steak at the club. It was pretty nice. Medium-rare sirloin steak with steamed veggies and chips. I wasn't really hungry when we ate but I was pretty stuffed after that steak. We came home after that.

There was a rather fascinating speculation that I discussed with Kevin. Despite the possibility that everything up to now has been nothing but utter lies, do I really want to shatter this illusion and confront the truth? Would I be happier going along with the lie? Or will dire consequences ensue?

To be or not to be, that is the question;
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing, end them. To die, to sleep;
No more; and by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to — 'tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wish'd. To die, to sleep;
To sleep, perchance to dream.

Oh well, I guess now's not the time to be worrying about such trivial things. I've got exams to prepare for! 7 more weeks left... This is truly unnerving! I had a super long nap after I got back home and have not done any revision at all... Instead, I made a new blog header, which I'm sure all your lovely people would have noticed right from the start, right? RIGHT? I made it myself :( I hope you like. I'm feeling like an emo crackpot at the moment, so I shan't infect you any further with my mindless blabbering.

Time for results!?!? Oh no... =(

How-dilly-do-dally!

Today wasn't as cold as yesterday. It was about 27 degrees Celsius. It's was a biology session today. According to the timetable, I had lectures from 0900 hrs - 1000 hrs and 1400 hrs - 1500 hrs. Thankfully, the later lecture was rescheduled to 1100 hrs - 1200 hrs. That was quite a relief. On a more miserable note, I had realised that I had forgotten to bring my wallet with me. It was quite a disaster. Good thing one of my mates had a spare travel pass. I'd have to walk home otherwise. Today's lecture covered cell structures. We mostly did bacteria and archaea cell structures and a bit about viruses. The first lecture was slightly dry but it got pretty exciting for the second one. (And I mean it in all honesty.) We had a small debate/discussion whether or not viruses were considered to be alive. It didn't exactly come under the scientific definition of "life" but when a virion enters a host cell and uses it to replicate, does it not show how very much "alive" it is? We also discussed about the endo-symbiosis of chloroplast by plant cells as it "consumes" cyanobacteria. Fascinating stuff.

Well, I got home at 1330 hrs and had lunch. Mummy packed lunch for me again :D But I didn't have the chance to eat it at Uni since I spent the break doing chemistry tutorial questions for tomorrow. After lunch, I left to go to the city for a short break to meet Derrick. He works at Qantas (such a crappy airlines) and is leaving for Frankfurt tomorrow so we went to the tea centre since he's quite a tea enthusiast as well. He tried the Buddha Tears and I had the Gunpowder Temple of Heaven. This one had a much harsher taste than the rest that I've tried. It's a green tea with an "explosive" taste. It had a dry-slightly bitter aftertaste. A rather strong brew compared to the other teas. I enjoyed the experience nonetheless.

Susan came to join us and I introduced her to Derrick. Susan being a very direct self just went on about getting everything waxed on Monday (I'm going with her to get some parts done as well ;p) and about some other not so appropriate dinning conversation topics. She was hilarious. Derrick was shocked! He commented that he has never met anyone like her before. Oh and Derrick bats for the same team as well. He's attached already though but I don't have any feelings for him so it's all good anyways. He's cute and all but we're too much of friends for me to be turned on by him. We met at 1500 hrs and stayed around the city until 1730 hrs. He went for a haircut after that and I went home for dinner.

Dinner was quiet as usual. Was watching the current affairs program about the insurgency strike in India. Derrick mentioned about it earlier on. Qantas had pulled out MOST of their staff from India. Some poor buggers were stranded there. Currently, no flights to and from India are permissible in Austrlia. After dinner I continued to work on my chemistry tutorial which is due tomorrow. I feel bad if I ditched Dr Kakali's class though since no one else probably does any work there. Oh well, will see how things go tomorrow.

In the evening, I received my total marks for the previous semester via e-mail. It isn't anything too fantastic. I was slightly disappointed with my marks but I guess I got what I deserved. I had switched to holiday mode even before the biology paper. Meh...

1st day of Chemistry Session

Yaho,

Today began with me rolling out of bed, shivering in the cold. It's supposed to be summer so I don't usually wear excessive clothing to bed... (note to self: find a hot lover before winter comes)

With 5 hours of sleep, I felt like crap. Had to quickly get ready to go to Uni. Today's schedule is chemistry, chemistry and more chemistry... yay...
0930 hrs was some administrative stuff. I was somewhat awake as I had friends around. The course coordinator's beard has grown longer over the short break since the exams. Must be for Christmas coming up.
1000 hrs was the first lecture for chemistry.
"Atomic structure, yay, i know this stuff!

wait hang on... why is physics getting involved...

wait...

omg...

OMG....

OOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGGG!!"

That's pretty much how the first lecture went. Hurrah for quantum mechanics of electron configuration... I was so tired I fell asleep after 30 mins. Good thing I was sitting at the side of the lecture hall. It was pretty bad. I woke up after 5 mins and tried to remain awake. It was a gruelling battle which I had ultimately won. We had a 30 min break so my mates and I went down to the cafe beside the Uni Bar to get something to eat and drink. My mummy packed me lunch. Lurbs yew mummsie! It was pork floss with bread! My favourite! yay! I was feeling happy already.

At 1030 hrs, went to the Law Building for chemistry tutorial. I wanted Anna Choy, my previous tutor for this session as she's really good but I had Dr Kakali Chowdhury. I got my friends who were in Anna's tutorial to ask if I could join in next session and she seemed quite happy! Yay! Dr Kakali is a friendly little Indian lady with a mutated British accent. She had wonderful phonetics but there was that underlying Indian-English accent that made me giggle to myself. The classroom was somewhat packed. There are 3 hot guys in my class. 2 Asian, 1 Caucasian. The Caucasian guy sat next to me. He smelled of cigarettes. I'm hesitant to change tutorial classes now ;p The tutorial went very much slower than I had liked it to go. Dr Kakali talks with such speed that tectonic plates could have collided enough to make a mountain even before she finished a sentence. Goooo Dr Kakali! I had two questions I needed help with. She only managed to do one before the 1 hr tutorial lesson ended. And it seemed like I was the only one who did the tutorial questions beforehand. She was constantly looking at me for answers. I feel bad about ditching her and hopping over to Anna Choy's class now. Oooo, dilemma dilemma... What to do now? :S

Straight after tutorial, I had to rush back to the lecture theatre for the second chemistry lecture. More quantum-chemistry... So depressing that I'm so lost... Ground state configuration, configuration of ions all the way up to atomic properties and more electron configuration... I managed to stay awake although I was very restless in my seat.

I was quite relieved that the day was over after this class. Next week, I'd have a 3 hour lab session after this lecture... Normally, a semester would be 14 weeks long. Recently, they shortened a normal session to 12 weeks and for summer session, the entire course is being crammed into 8 weeks. The final exams of both BABS and Chem clashes with my flight plans to Singapore. If the faculties do agree to allow me to sit for the exam, it means that I'd be sitting for each exam on the day of the last lecture. I don't know how I'm going to study at this rate... Maybe I'll just have to forfeit those questions pertaining to that lecture...

I got home at 1630 hrs. I was cheered up by my package arriving from Global Gear. I had placed an order for a new sword cleaning kit, a tanto stand and a necklace almost 3 months ago. (it was only supposed to take 2 weeks... but I'm still happy anyways :D) I decided to camwhore a bit with it. Here are the results. Let me know what you think of it!

First Day of Summer Term

G'd day mates,

I'm using the computers at the Law Library at Uni to type this blog. So far, I've had my first biology lab for BABS 1201. It was absolutely gay, even by my standards, which says alot! I got to Uni at around 0900 hrs. Class didn't start until 1000 hrs so I escaped to the main library to use the computers. I couldn't access blogspot from the main library which was really crappy. The "1" key doesn't work on the stupid keyboard either. But I did manage to get onto ebuddy and went on MSN. I saw Kevin online and bitched about how miserable life is. It was good. Haven't had the chance to chat with him for a few days so it was pretty good. That cheered me up a bit. I was also chatting with Elsie while waiting for time to trickle by. There was a hot guy that came in and sat diagonally opposite me. I could perv on him without looking too awkward. Ahahaha, I'm such a slut it's unbelievable. He had nice legs. I think he plays soccer by the look of it.

I left the library for class at 0950 hrs just as hot guy was leaving as well. Today's lab was so pathetic! We just covered the safety procedures, seating plan and a short quiz (on the first lesson). After that, we adjourned to the car park to be enlightened by the "this is the evacuation assembly area" speech. We had ended class at 1050 hrs. I had nothing to do until 1400 hrs when I had the Biology lecture.

Langer was doing the same class as me. We went to the bookstore to pick up his lab manual for chemistry and then to the ARC store to get a file. Went to Maccas to get a Chocolate Frappe. It's so decadent! I think I'm going to get fat soon but then I've had to walk up and down the bastard steps I think I lost more weight than i had actually gained. Came back to Uni to use the computers at Law Library. So here I am, with 3 mins left till i get logged out from the computers. =) How exciting... I have a chemistry tutorial tomorrow and I didn't think to bring my chem tutorial questions. So I'm basically stoning in front of the computer, watching youtube and blog hopping until 1400 hrs when I have to trek all the way to upper campus biomedical theatre for this afternoon's lecture. Sigh... Oh, on a more positive note, there's a slightly-above average hot guy in the other lab. I'll probably get to see him again during lecture.

Well, that's all for now.

Lurbs yew long time,
Jo

Summer Cleaning Session

I have feelings too you know! *sob*

Hi dearies,

It has been a tiring day. I tried to revert back to my sleep routine of 6 hours since Uni starts again tomorrow but I ended up waking at 1215 hrs. I wasn't sure what to do today. My friend Elsie was back in Sydney but she wasn't available to go to the city today. I stoned for a bit and decided to go to Uni to pick up my course manual for Chem 1021. I had to rush a bit because Bee Bee was driving Mum's car to work and I could catch a lift from her.

We left home at 1310 hrs and I reached the university bookshop at about 1335 hrs. The queue was pretty long. I met Jeffrey in the queue. He was ahead of me. There was a somewhat hot guy standing a few places behind me but I wasn't in the mood to start fantasizing whilst in the queue. Had to climb up the bastard steps (i think it's actually called Baster steps but everyone calls them bastard steps because it's a serious work out getting up the 100 odd steps! That's like a good workout on the stairmaster in the gym) to get to the other bookshop. Bought a gray file to put in the course manual. Cheapskate chemistry faculty didn't bother putting it in a file for us. At least the Biology people did. Met Jeffrey at the second bookshop. He was supposed to have a tutorial on but it got cancelled. We went to Maccas (McDonalds) for lunch. I had a double quarter pounder meal. Got it upsized for free with my student card. This was my first time using my student card. I never knew it was that useful. The bus took ages to arrive but I got home eventually. I spotted 2 more hot guys on the bus today. 1 of them was Asian. Even though he wore glasses he wasn't geeky or anything. Maybe it was that fitting white G-Star Raw shirt he was wearing. The other was a Caucasian bloke in a suit.

Snowie was waiting for me when I got home. Poor pup was lonely by himself. He was jumping all over me. I went to the kitchen to check on my almond pudding. It was done! Yay~

my not so 1334 cutting skills! Just as white as Snowie.

Finishing touches!

After slicing them into cubes and adding the longans in, I popped it back into the fridge and got ready to clean my babies. I was feeling rather pooped out so I decided to just do the 5 major ones today. Took them out of my room and brought them into the living room since that was larger area. My room is tiny! And yes, I sleep with knives all around me.

The piano really comes in handy

The sword cleaning kit

The tools inside

It took me a long time to work on the katana set today. The condition has deteriorated by quite a bit was I wasn't around to clean them for the past 2 years. My heart bled for them. These are some of my most prized possessions. I don't really know how else to describe emotions I'm feeling besides the disappointment and ignominy. The katana (long one) and wakizashi (medium one) took me about an hour to clean in total but the tanto (small one) took the longest as it had rust spots all over. I felt so distraught over it's condition. It took me 2 hours of non-stop polishing with steel wool and alot of choji. I had gone into a semi-trance like state from the monotonous "wanking" movements and memories of my childhood started flooding back.

I remembered back to when I was in primary school in Singapore and the nanny/house-help that took care of me for 13 years since I was 3 years old. She was a really nice elderly Sri Lankan lady that took great care of my family. I remember this once when I was about 13 years old and I was really sick in the middle of the night. Everyone was still asleep and I woke up to throw up. I threw up in the sink, it didn't occur to me that I should have done it in the toilet bowl instead. I woke up my mum and she was slightly annoyed that I had thrown up in the sink. I don't blame her since it was probably like 4 am in the morning and she had to get up early to go to work the next day. I was feeling feverish so I couldn't sleep in the air-conditioned room with my parents. I went out to the living room and curled into a ball on the sofa. Kusuma, that was her name, woke up and felt my forehead. She made some lemon water and brought a bin just in case I needed to throw up again. She was a Christian lady, along with my family, so she knelt beside me and prayed for me. She kept me company for most of the night. I am truly grateful that I had someone there when I was feeling so sick. But then I remembered the times when I was nasty and rude to her. I felt so guilty. I never got to tell her that I was sorry.

That was about it. I gave up on rust removal. I did however, manage to remove most of it. All that remains was the gray blemishes which were alot more unnoticeable. I finished up cleaning the shirasaya (wooden one) and the Lord of the Rings High Elven Blade. I was really worn out after that. But I still managed to pull off some minor camwhoring.

quite tired, but enough energy to camwhore for you

Epic fail with the "duck" smile. I don't know how some Asian guys can pull it off really good.

Had dinner, and then desert. That cheered me up a bit. I got back to my room with a bowl of Almond pudding with Longan.

home made desert! yay~

I looked through the Chem course manual I had bought today. I almost choked on my pudding. It was horrible! The only word that came to mind was "WTF" and that isn't even a word! Ok, that's it for today. I really don't know what else I can share with you. Sorry for the onslaught of pictures today. I'll leave you guys with some pictures of the minor details with the katana set.

Jo(n)

Gloomy Sunday

Silence! I keeeel you!!

Hi again,

Nothing much happened today out of the ordinary. It was friggin' cold when I went to church in the morning (serious lack of sleep), came back home for lunch. Today's lunch was different. The parents invited some church friends over for lunch. It was pretty good. Snowie was locked in the sun room because one of the little girls were scared of dogs. Snowie's a big whinger. Could hear him whinging from the dining room. After lunch was done, Bee Bee carried him out. We convinced little Joy to pat him. Snowie's such an attention whore. Probably rubbed off on me :p Drank alot of tea today. We made Genmaicha (玄米茶). It had a more grassy-herbaceous flavour to it. It went well with the pie Steven bought.

By the time everyone had left, it was already 1600 hrs. Despite knocking back many cups of tea, I hopped into bed. Woke up at 1900 hrs and went for the evening service with the parents. After that we headed for East Gardens to do some grocery shopping. Came back home for dinner. Dinner ended at around 2200 hrs. I was bored and miserable from reality (elaborated last blog entry) so I decided to make almond pudding. After stirring frantically for 10 mins over a hot stove, I was quite pleased with the consistency but then I realised I had shot myself in the leg as there was a thick layer of froth at the top. I tried to remove as much of it as possible. It was painstakingly long. Well, I popped it into the fridge to harder. Hopefully by tomorrow, I'll feel better when it's done. I've got canned longans ready as well.

It's currently 0003 hrs and I'm looking around my room, thinking of what to do while listening to Viva La Vida by Coldplay. I went to check on the new blog posts by all the hot guys. All of them were really interesting. Their lives are alot more fascinating than mine, that's for sure.

Tomorrow, I will have to called the school of Biological Sciences and ask them if the exam date for the Summer Term has been confirmed on the 4th Feb. I swear, that is the biggest hoax ever! On the academic calender it stated that the Summer Term starts from the 24th Nov '08 to the 30th Jan '09. Trusting that the academic calendar wouldn't lie to me, I had already booked my flight back to Singapore on the 1st Feb. The worst case scenario is that I drop BABS 1201 - Molecules, Cells & Genes... Wee... Massive fun ensues... I hope Chemistry for the Summer Term wouldn't be as much of a pain as BABS. I will have to do some summer-cleaning tomorrow as well. I have been neglecting my sword maintenance for a long time. I really hope they haven't developed rust otherwise, I'd be spending the next few days trying to remove the rust without scratching the blade. I'll have to re-moisturise my whip for ici too. ;p

Bah, I've got nothing else to whinge/bitch/whine/talk about. So I'll take some emo pictures of myself with my webcam.

Silence! I keeeel you! Bah, I will need to clean alot of these tomorrow...

The Melancholy of Jo

Today has been pretty miserable. No job, no boyfriend, no money. All my job applications have been unsuccessful. For every single one of them, I have had to call them up personally to find out that I've been rejected. So much for their customer service. To recap where I've applied for... Bally, Body Shop, Guess, Perfume Connection, Myers, David Jones and Molton Brown. It's going to be a sad Christmas...

I had about 6 hours of sleep, which is pretty good considering I had more than 10 hours the previous day. I felt ugly today. Everyone was busy with their own little thing and I felt bad about going out since I just got back home from a two day trip and that going out equates to more expenditure. When I got up, the house was deserted, save for Snowie who just sat the front door, wagging his tail and looking at me with his big almond-shaped eyes.

On a more positive note, I managed to check my provisional marks for my Statistics finals. I got a distinction. I was a few marks shy of a high distinction though. My elation dwindled into despondence pretty fast as I returned to reality - no job, no boyfriend, no money. Bah, humbug! It's not like I'm desperate for a boyfriend or anything, I'm contented with being single but there will always be this void that can only be filled by that special someone.

To take my mind off things, I escaped into the magical world of Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria. Yes, I know it's an old game but I haven't had the chance to complete it. I'm at Chapter 2, monotonously attempting to level up Leona and Arrgngrim (I'm pretty sure I spelt his name wrong) to level 40 as they will leave my party at the end of Chapter 3 and if I manage to get them to that level, I'll be awarded with uber h4x0rz weapons! Yaaaaay! It's like an investment for an easier future. I know I'm a nerd, don't have to rub it in... yes, that means you Kevin! :P

Everyone on my MSN list seems busy so I didn't have anyone to chat to the whole day. It wasn't till the evening that one of my girlfriends from Singapore needed help with putting together a snazzy ensemble for a "glitz and glamour" event. I spent the next hour or so helping her work through hair style, dress and accessories through a crappy webcam while watching Gladiator on TV. Go Maximus! RAWR! It was pretty late by the time I was satisfied with her outfit and the movie had ended.

I was blog hopping and reading comments (thank you lovely people for leaving comments. I'm somewhat happy and horrified that there are people actually reading my blog!) All the hot guys out there seem to have found someone they can snuggle up to when it's raining and cold outside. I felt depressed that I've been single since... forever... Don't get me wrong, I'm not exactly in any hurry to get a boyfriend. I don't know what's wrong with me. Maybe I'm just craving the novelty of a relationship? Whatever it is, I don't want to make any hurried decisions and end up regretting in the future. I'm happy for those who have found a partner and I sincerely do wish them all the best.

As for me, no job, no boyfriend, no money. Oh and university is starting again next week... Sad Christmas in chemistry and bio lab...

Lurbs yew long time,
Jo

Back From the Country

Hello everyone,

It's been 2 days since I've left for the country side of New South Wales from the bustling city life. It was an excruciating trip but the view was absolutely breathtaking. This trip began at 0800 hrs on the 19th November 2008 at Kingsford McDonalds. I had to wake up at 0600 to make it there on time. Lack of beauty sleep = PMS like a bitch. I felt a bit sick but after a sausage McMuffin and hot tea, I felt better. We didn't meet up until 0830 hrs. 5 of us were shoved into a Volkswagen golf. Such a petite car. I seized the opportunity to catch up on my sleep deficit so I passed out cold for the next 4 hours. By the time I had awoken up, we were about to enter a small town. I was back to my jovial self again. We had a deliberation about what we were going to have for lunch. The massive billboards advertising for the various fast food outlets made the decision harder. It wasn't until we saw the Hungry Jacks (Aussie version of Burger King) billboard that we had a unanimous vote. Lunch never felt so good! I had a Whopper meal. The other 2 guys ordered the Aussie Burger and a huge meat-stuffed burger while the girls didn't eat. I was given the largest amount of fries and we were hypothesizing why that was so. I concluded that it was because of my charming smile and a lovely personality. It must have convinced the young male manager to give me more.

We were on our way after that to Orange. The plan was to go Cherry picking but when we reached Orange's Visitor Information Centre, we found out that Cherries weren't ready for picking for another 3 weeks. We were given a map of the local attractions to give it a shot anyways. We decided to go to the Hurstberry Farm to pick strawberries instead since Angeline gave them a call in the morning and they did say they were opened for picking but after driving in circles and finally locating the place, we discovered that they were closed. We tried calling them again but this time, no one picked up. We were seriously peeved off by it and swore to boycott their products. It was quite a funny experience now that I think about it. Unphased, we went on to look at the other attractions around. We went to visit a few vineyards but sadly out of the 3 we were trying to get to, only the last one was open. The owner of the vineyard gave us a personal wine tasting session of his products. The view from the top of the vineyard where the wine tasting was held was magnificent. We saw roaming fields of green with neatly arranged grape vines on one side and cherry trees with unripe green fruit on the other. The distant hills were shrouded in clouds as we were sprinkled in light rain. Out of all the wine I tasted at the vineyard, I was most taken by the Cherry Liqueur and the Cherry Port. The cherry port lacked maturity but in a few years it'd be wonderful. All of us placed our order together to buy a case. It totalled to AUD $100 for 5 Cherry Liqueurs and 1 Cherry Port. It was quite a bargain. I was the first one to go red from the wine tasting. I would acclaim this embarrassing phenomenon to my fair complexion and good circulation. ; )

It was getting late and we headed for the town of Oberon as that was where our accommodation would be. We had to settle dinner soon as it was almost 1700 hrs. We went to the local tavern to get dinner. I had a sirloin steak which costs $10. It was ... alright for $10. We went to the motor inn which wasn't as far as we thought it'd be. It looked pretty crummy on the outside but when we went in, it was a really cozy little cottage. Everything looked new. The parquet floors were spotless. I did have a strong inkling however that this entire "shack" was bought from Ikea and just tied to the ground. It was cheap and cozy which was perfect as it was raining rather heavily outside.

We got up to leave at 0900 hrs if we were to reach the Jenolan Caves and the Blue Mountains on time. We had cake for breakfast. Angeline had made it before we left Sydney. I fell asleep in the car on the way to the caves again. The usual cycle was to wake up, laugh a bit and then go back to sleep. We reached the caves at 1000 hrs. We made it just in time for the tour to the Temple of Baal at 1015 hrs. It was quite a nice tour of the caves. We saw the angel's wing which was rather magnificent. Even though it looks flimsy, it is actually solid rock. The cave was spectacular but we couldn't leave the caves from 1145 hrs to 1315 hrs so we just sat at the cafe eating the overpriced food. I bought a souvenir coin for $2 with the imprint of the Lucas cave on it. We finally got to leave and headed for Katoomba. We stopped along the way to look at the view. It was pretty nice. We got to see a waterfall but it was a bit disappointing as it was somewhat pathetic.
We went on to Katoomba for lunch. We went to a very quaint cafe. I had a kangaroo rump steak with mushroom sauce. It was absolutely wonderful. It took quite a while to prepare though. By the time we were done with lunch, it was 1600 hrs. We made a move towards the Blue Mountains. We arrived at 1650 hrs. We had less than 10 mins to leave before we'd have to pay for parking. We got to see the 3 sister peaks and camwhore there for a bit. It was full of tourists.

We left and went to Gordon Falls. It was already raining and alot more disappointing than the previous one. It was like a piss stream. As a consolation, we spotted a huge rainbow over the hills. We immediately took out our cameras and tried to capture it.
We left the Blue Mountains and headed back for Sydney. Stopped by Paramatta for dinner at Temasek Restaurant which served Singaporean and Malaysian cuisine. It was really good. By the time we got back to Sydney it was already late. We had a long tour of the Westfield carpark. It took us half an hour of going round the 6 floors of parking lots to finally secure a spot. We exuded an aura of victory as we strolled around the shopping centre while waiting for time to pass as our dinner reservation was at 2015 hrs. We went to look at the clothing shops. Went to Glue to look at their G-Star Raw jeans. That brand is nice. Dinner was good, got back home around 2300 hrs. Was pooped out and had an early night.

Woke up and caught up on the blog entries by Kevin. I was quite surprised by the changes that have happened in the 2 days I haven't been around. Had a pretty bad headache so I didn't really do much. Went into hibernation for a long time. Really wasn't much to do. University will be starting again next week. Such a bummer...

That's all for now. I hope my blog post has been coherent since I've been typing this while watching Harry Potter, The Goblet of Fire. Cedric Diggory is quite hot :P

The Misery

Hello possums,

Let me try to recap what excitement have been going on since my last post... There was the trip to the beach with the Singaporean people, well, most of them anyways. Georgina, Tabitha, Clyde, Sean, Derrick, Jeffrey and myself went to Long Bay Beach near my place. It was pretty fun. Starting from Clyde and Sean, one by one they were dragged off into the watery depths of the bay. I was fortunately spared because I was holding the camera. Even though it's widely known that I'm a camwhore, I didn't take "self-portrait" pictures. I was taking alot of pictures of everyone frolicking in the sun. I took caution to remain in the shade most of the time since I'm not particularly interested in developing melanoma. Kudos to the Aussie sun! After a major sun-burning session for the guys frolicking in the water, we adjorned to my place to finish up the food. It was good to have everyone over but they left a bit of a mess. Dear Snowie was over-excited by the sudden onslaught of attention and did not hesitate to wee on Sean. I was pleased that Snowie had developed excellent intuition on which person to wee on. Despite the gratuitous golden shower Sean receive, he was undeterred and continued to exude annoyance to everyone's displeasure. Well, they left before 1700 and I cleaned up after them. That's it for that day.

I had a barbecue at my place the other day, on Saturday I think it was. It was good. Dad invited his ex-students over and I invited my Uni mates which comprised mainly of the Singapore group anyways. Georgina, Angelina, Natalie, Priscilla, Derrick 1, Derrick 2, Jeffrey, Roy, Sean, Syafiq and Wayne came. We had a pretty good time. After dinner, most of them played cards while Georgina was getting abused in Soul Calibur 3 on my PS2. She makes the most hilarious expressions and noises when she plays. Her body bends to the side as she frantically mashes on the buttons, occasionally squealing "you idiot!" and "die die die!". Much to our entertainment, we all took turns wiping the floor with her. The climax of the battle royale was when she used Sopithia against Seung-Mina controlled by Natalie (this was Natalie's first go) and was owned by Natalie. We were all cheering for Natalie to the rhythm of her horizontal attack blitz from which Georgina was disastrously caught in. It was spectacular! They soon left after that eventful battle. If only we had a video of Georgina playing, we could relive the moment in our dullest moments.

On Sunday after church, I went to Kingsford to meet at Sean's place as he was flying off to Singapore for a holiday as well as to celebrate Jeffrey's birthday. Even though I had missed out of the main celebrations which was Georgina's initial brithday prank backfiring on herself, there was video footage kindly provided by Angeline. Georgina had planned to have a pail of water projected from the 3rd floor balcony onto the unsuspecting blindfolded Jeffrey who was waiting below. It was by chance, or divine intervention or retribution if you will, that Georgina was thoroughly soaked whilst Jeffrey, still blindfolded and none the wiser, escaped unscathed. After a few rounds of Soul Calibur 4 on Sean's PS3 and HD wide screen plasma TV, all of us walked down to the main road with his Prada bag almost splitting at the seams due to an overload of Gucci shoes and his ginormous clam shell Samsonite suitcase with contents that costs a king's ransom. We were at the hotel en route to the main road when Sean realised that he had left his iphone at home and rushed back to get it. Meanwhile, his suitcase was about to precariously roll off the sidewalk and into oncoming traffic if not for my slut-trained lightning reflexes. A taxi had pulled into the hotel, dropping off some elderly ladies and we managed to persuade the driver to wait while Sean swaggered down the street. It took 4 strong army-trained guys to load his suitcase into the boot. We all wondered how he'd be able to extricate his coffin of a suitcase from the boot one he reached the airport. Anyways, it was a bitter-sweet farewell since he was my only bitching buddy. We proceeded for Jeffrey's birthday lunch at a pretty good Indonesian restaurant. Despite it's dodgy architecture, it served pretty good food. We were all pretty pooped out after today's escapades and dispersed to return home. That's it for Sunday.

I was stuck at home on Monday. It was rather miserable. The most entertaining event of the day was the emoticon war with Kevin. I don't remember how it started but it just went on and on for quite a while. Couldn't really decide who won since there weren't any rules of engagement established. Ah, dear Kevin, what would I ever do on those boredom ranked days without you.

Snowie wants to join in the fun

I went for a haircut on Tuesday. It's pretty much the same style. I was wearing my green contacts again today. I met up with Gary who was an artographer (freelance photographer) for coffee after my haircut. He's a nice guy, showed me around his studio and his cats. He has taken some really nice pictures of Sydney and stuff. He taught me a bit about photography as well. We walked by the Greater Union movie theatres on the way to his studio. The streets were prepared to be cordoned off and the workers were busy setting up tents and planning to unroll the prestigious red carpets for tonight's opening of "Australia" starring the ever beautiful Nicole Kidman and the beef cake Hugh Jackman and directed by Baz Luhrmann. It looks spectacular and fully embodies the Australian spirit. I left for home at around 1430 hrs. The bus ride home was tiring and stuffy. I think the air-conditioning wasn't working at the back end of the bus. There was a particularly hunky guy on the bus that was sitting behind me. I managed to take a peek at him when I abruptly awoke from my nap when I had unglamourously rammed my head into the window when the bus jerked. I hoped I didn't snore because that would have been appalling. When I got back home, Bee Bee was all dressed up for her formal tonight. She had caked on the eyeshadow till she looked like a panda that got punched in the eyes. I helped her remove some of it till it was a proper pair of "smokey eyes". We ended up camwhoring for a bit. Snowie came in to join the fun. That's basically all the interesting bits that have happened so far.

That's all for now. Toodles!

Final Exam for Semester 1

Hmm, what's been happening since my last post? Let's see...

On saturday evening, went out to Roy and Sean's place to celebrate Klement's birthday and Wayne's belated birthday. Yes, killing 2 birds with 1 stone is the efficiency that everyone wants... It was good. We had pizza for dinner, Georgina is officially evil incarnate! She comes up with the most diabolical birthday "surprises" ever. I'm quite relieved that she won't be around during my birthday. I hope she doesn't have a successor to continue her diabolic legacy. Tabitha baked a pretty good oreo cheesecake for Klement and I think it was Georgina that made ice-cream balls for Wayne. Poor Wayne. Lol. He was ordered to finished up 7 balls I think. By the time we were done camwhoring at the event and discussing the coming week's plan, it was almost close to 2310. The last bus to my place from Kingsford is at 2354. By the time we got to the bus stop, it was already 2320 and I had missed my 2310 bus. I gave up on waiting and took the bus with Jeffrey. I had to walk alone in the dark inside the bowels of Malabar to reach my house. Oh, there is a high security prison on the way to my place. It was rather intimidating but I had the accoustic excellence of Shure earphones blasting music from Within Temptation to bolster up my courage.

Sunday was the same as always. Church, grocery shopping, back home for lunch, long nap, dinner, and substituted activities to pass the time. I had a good chat with Kevin about ... i forgot what it was we were talking about. It seems like our conversations since Sunday has progressed to derogatory banter which is highly entertaining. It just debases our intellect by 85%. I'm his slut specimen and he's my chinky-eyed ecologist. This was established on Monday night.

Monday was pretty fun. I went to the city with Bee Bee to get waxed. Our appointment was at 1300 and 1315 but the bus was being a biatch as always and took ages to move. Somewhere en route to the city, there seemed to have been competition between 399 (which was the bus we were on) and L94 (which is another bus that takes the same route, except it's an express bus). We were hoping to catch the L94 as it would have been faster. Sadly, we missed our golden opportunity as there was only one instance when our bus overtook the L94. Anywho, we made it there about 5 mins late which wasn't that bad. I didn't get Christina who had waxed me the previous two times but I did get Sarah C which Susan acclaimed to have been an expertise at eyebrow waxing. Indeed her style was different to Christina's and I prefer Christina's thoroughness. Oh, when Sarah waxed my lips and chin which had painstakingly took a month and a half to grow, I started bleeding everywhere. It was pretty painful. After the waxing, brought Bee Bee to the tea centre. She wasn't much of a tea connoisseur so I order Yin Zhen (Silver Needles) tea for myself. I got my new phone second-hand today too! So I was trying to capture the silver needles on camera but it's pretty hard.
So the white flulffy looking things inside the cup is actually alot of these silver needles inside. This picture doesn't really do it justice but that's the best I've got. We left the city at 1400 and headed for Kingsford because Bee Bee needed to consult the optometrist regarding the prescription of her new pair of specs. She got a transcript from him and we went to Eastgardens to hand over the pair of specs along with the transcript so that the lenses can be changed. Had McDonalds for lunch. It's so unhealthy but it's mighty tasty! I had a double quater pounder burger. It was really good. We got home at 1630 ish and I just bummed at home, pontificating nonsense with Kevin on MSN, preparing my notes for tomorrow's exam... yea, that's about it. Apart from killing the big mother spider in my room after a series of deliberation with Kevin (actually, it was more like Kevin: Don't kill the spider. Me: I'm squishing it anyways. That basically what went on.) I do not like insects, period!

Anywhos, exam tomorrow. I need to sleep early so I can look pretty in the morning and stun the examiner and copy off someone while he's distracted.

So exams are over, what's next?

This one is specially for Ekkonen because I really wouldn't have remembered to update my blog if it wasn't for him. But who the heck reads it anyways. I guess he does.

Exams haven't officially ended yet. I still have a tiny one on the 11th Nov for Plant chemistry - Plants & People : Murder, Magic, Medicine. It's a pretty interesting course. We did plants and fungi that were used for poisons, and had psychoactive or medicinal purposes. Went to the Royal Botanic Gardens for a field trip. (20% of the course mark just for attendance! I love this course!) Oh and the finals for this is an open book exam so I've gone into the holiday mood straight after Biology on the 4th Nov. Actually, I think I was already holiday-ing before that, hence the denial + bewilderment + flummox. It was awesome, I should have been panicking like a little girl but yea, it was as if I was high on something.

Anywhos, moving on, yesterday (05/11/08), I went to the City to hang with a dear friend, S. Oh, there was this HOOOOOT guy on the bus! Good thing i was wearing my sunnies otherwise it'd be so obvious I was checking him out. But then again, he was sitting diagonally in front of me so he'd have to turn around to notice me. We met at Max Brenner at David Jones and headed for lunch at Din Tai Fung. It's a really good place. I miss the one in Singapore though. I had the braised beef noodles and 9 pieces of the 小笼包. S just ate entrées because she was afraid of getting fat. But she did like it as well though. I swear, she eats like a rabbit. Everything on her plate were just plants.

After lunch we walked around World Square window shopping for jeans. G-Star Raw had some nice ones but i felt they were too high up. Went to Marketcity and found that their G-Star jeans were about $30 - $40 cheaper. Didn't buy it though. Tempting, but this was a reconnaissance mission.

We made our way up to Skygardens, to the Tea Centre. Another one of my favourite places. They have an exquisite range of teas from English to New Guinean, black, white, green, etc, etc. So far, I've tried their Silver Needles and Snow Dragon tea so I tried their Buddha Tears this time. Silver Needles was particularly delightful. The taste was light and delicate and left a sweet aftertaste. It would have cost $100/50g for the Silver needles tea as it is only picked on two days in the entire year. The good thing about the tea centre is that they allow you to try their teas regardless of the price when you buy it as a pot. They were out of the premium silver needles so i tried the second best one which would have cost $35/100g. When you look at the tea in the light, you can really see silver needles dancing in your cup! As for the snow dragon, "Spiral white tips dance around the pot for a beautiful mild tea experience". It was a nice tea but I would have preferred to see the spiralling white tips in a glass pot instead of the enclosed metal one they served the tea in. Buddha tears were also called Jasmine Downy Pearls. I really liked this one as well. They are hand-rolled balls which unfurl to present a full, exquisite flavour. I didn't get to see any unfurling at all since it was again, in the metal pot.

We headed back to David Jones after a good hour of talking and tea indulging. S went to get her standard fruit salad and we walked around more looking at bags. I have a thing for Bally bags. I will buy one someday! We headed home after that. The bus took ages to arrive. When I got home, I went on trevvy and fridae and saw Ekkonen's kiss on trevvy. Very nice of you to return the kisses. I have a tendency of sending those daily to certain people :P Oh, it's nice to see you on fridae as well.

That's all the interesting stuff that happened so far. Hope it has entertained whoever is reading.
